Use Butze Rapids Trail with caution due to possible wolves…

PRINCE RUPERT, BC: On September 14 2018 at 10:32 AM, RCMP received a call with regards to a wolf attacking a dog on the Butze Rapids Trail just outside of Prince Rupert…

RCMP officers attended that location and ensured the family was able to safely leave the trail with their dog. The family was shaken as a result of the encounter with the wolf but the dog did not sustain any major injuries.

A Conservation officer attended the scene but the wolves were not located. Witnesses stated that three wolves were seen in the area. The trail was shut down to the public from 11:00 to 1:30 while the RCMP ensured everyone was safe. The trail was reopened after it was searched by the Conservation officer.

The Prince Rupert RCMP is asking the public to use extreme caution and to follow the instructions posted on the signs along the trail.
