The City of Prince George activated the Emergency Support Service Centre (ESS) to support evacuees from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District on Monday, July 27.โ€ฏ 

Evacuees are expected to arrive in Prince George this afternoon from 70 Mile House following an evacuation order caused by the Pear Lake wildfire. For the most up-to-date evacuation information for the Cariboo region, evacuees should visit theโ€ฏThompson-Nicola Regional District websiteโ€ฏand theโ€ฏBC Government website.โ€ฏ 

The ESS Reception Centre is located at 4248 18 Avenue (between the horse paddocks and Ice Oval) and will be open from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. today. It will remain activated daily while it is needed to support evacuees. Any changes in the hours will be communicated through theย Cityโ€™s websiteย and social media channels. Evacuees please follow the signage along Hwy 97 to get to the exhibition grounds on 18th Ave.

ESS provides short-term basic support to people impacted by disasters. The program is financed by the provincial government and administered by Indigenous communities and local governments. Resources provided can include information, hotel vouchers, and meal vouchers for those who have been evacuated. Volunteers, supplies, and donations are not being requested at this time.
