At 4 pm on December 31, 2023, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a report of a debris/cut end pile burning at 7177 Pacific Street (Stella-Jones Inc) in the industrial park. The fire was approximately 100 x 50 feet in diameter with flames 40-50 feet in height and visible from many parts of the city.

Two apparatus and four Firefighters were part of the initial response, and later assisted by two more apparatus and five more Firefighters.

Fire crews continued to douse the fire throughout the overnight on Monday (Jan 1).

No Firefighters or Stella-Jones staff were injured during firefighting efforts. Cause and damage estimates are yet to be determined.
