FORT ST. JOHN, BC: A youth is facing charges after being caught during a commercial break and enter in Fort St. John during the overnight…

Police say on February 2, 2023 at 2:35 AM, officers received a commercial break-in alarm at a business located on the 10100 block of 100th Street.

Officers on active patrol in the area attended and located a youth exiting the business. The youth was observed dropping a stolen item from the business as they departed the area on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit by one of the officers, the youth was apprehended.

The youth was then released on an Undertaking with conditions not to attend the business and a parent was notified.

Police say they continue to be actively engaged to decrease the amount of B&E’s in the Fort St. John area and were in the right place at the right time to catch the youth offender just as he was exiting the building.

Charges will be recommended for Break and Enter, Mischief, Theft under $5000 and Resist Arrest.
