Police say on January 29, 2022 at around 6:30 PM, officers received a report of a bomb threat to the radio station located on 101 Ave near 100th Street.
The threat consisted of a voicemail left by the man threatening to pipe bomb the radio station for not covering a specific local event.
Officers immediately responded and secured the radio station and utilized the Peace/Liard RCMP Police Dog Services Unit to clear the building for any explosives.
Through investigation it was determined that the threat had been made by a man who resides in Fort St. John. The man was located and arrested for uttering threats. He remained in custody.
“Our community members, including local businesses, deserve to feel safe,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St. John RCMP.
No bomb was found at the business or at the man’s home.
Philip TESTAWITCH attended court on January 31, 2022, and is facing charges of Uttering Threats and Intimidation by Threatening Violence.
TESTAWITCH was remanded to police custody to attend court again later today, February 1, 2022.
