Traffic disruptions on Ospika to allow for utility operation…

PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Travellers along Ospika Boulevard near Opie Crescent and 22nd Avenue may experience delays and traffic congestion starting this week due to the installation of a sanitary sewer line and water services as part of a construction project.

Ospika will be reduced to one lane in both directions near the site from 6:00am to 7:00pm each day until about the end of the month allow for the installation of sanitary and water services as part of a the construction of a new building nearby. Travellers are advised to expect delays and to find alternate routes if possible.

As part of the project, the sidewalk on the east side of Ospika between 22nd Avenue and Opie will be closed. Pedestrians will be directed to cross Ospika at 22nd Avenue or Massey Drive and to use the sidewalk on the west side of Ospika. Access to the bus stops will be maintained.

The construction is part of the Regional District of Fraser Fort George’s operation to build a new Emergency Services facility at 2259 Quinn Street. An all-new sidewalk with drop-downs to improve accessibility will be installed as part of the operation. The work is being led and carried out by IDL Projects of Prince George.
