UPDATE: Stabbing incident sends one to hospital…

UPDATE: RCMP in Grande Prairie apprehended the suspect, now identified as 28-year Jacob Johan VANDERMINNE involved in Saturday’s stabbing incident here in Prince George.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved one charge of Aggravated Assault against Jacob VANDERMINNE. As of January 25.

Police say shortly after 8:00 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2021, the Prince George RCMP attended a residence near Victoria Street and 11th Ave.

Officers quickly attended the basement unit of the residence and located a male suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency services transported the male to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation leads investigators to believe this was a targeted event and that the victim and suspect know one another. Multiple witnesses have already provided their statements to police and are being cooperative. The safety of the public is not at risk.

This investigation is still in the early stages. Police may provide further updates as the investigation continues.
