An intense low pressure system will move onto the central coast of BC today and then cross the northern interior tonight. North of the low, heavy snow is expected.
Rain over Terrace and Kitimat will change to snow this afternoon. Further inland, snow will begin this afternoon for Bulkley Valley and the Lakes. The heaviest snow is expected this evening before tapering to flurries overnight. Total snowfall amounts are forecast to be near 15 to 20 cm closer to the coast and 10 to 15 cm inland.
Over Pine Pass, snow will begin later this afternoon and 10 cm is expected before ending early Saturday morning.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
