Please be advised that City crews are at the scene of a water main break at 6th Avenue and Victoria Street in downtown Prince George. The water main, which is about 15cm in diameter and built out of cast iron, was installed in 1956, but is not connected to the water main at 6th and Vancouver, which broke early this morning.
Traffic on Victoria Street will not be affected by the repair operation, but 6th Avenue is closed to traffic. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes.
As part of repair operations, some buildings in the adjacent area will have water service temporarily suspended at around 8:00am tomorrow morning (January 16).
The City thanks residents for their patience while repairs are completed and encourages motorists to drive cautiously while around road crews.
