UPDATE: The live training event has been moved to Thursday, August 13, 2026.
PJXM would like to notify all of Prince George that live Police training is going to be in session on Thursday, see the notice below…
—
In partnership with School District 57, a local high school will be hosting a live Emergency Response Team training exercise tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The training will take place at Duchess Park Secondary School, located at 747 Winnipeg Street, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During the live exercise residents and businesses in the area can expect to see a large police presence (both uniformed and plain clothes officers) with various types of police vehicles parked on site. Those in the area may hear pops, loud bangs, yelling and screaming. We are advising the public in advance of this training, so they do not become alarmed at the police presence and the noise. Signage will be posted around the venue for the duration of the training.
“This training is being conducted to simulate an active threat situation and will be quite dynamic. This is a controlled training exercise, though we will be using live actors to enhance the realism of the situation. We are respectfully requesting that people do not approach the venue or the officers as it would interfere with the value of the training,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for Prince George RCMP.
We would like to thank our partners: the North District Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation Team and General Investigative Section and especially School District 57, for making this valuable training available to our local police officers.
