PRINCE GEORGE

Thursday, June 25, 2026

The City of Prince George has recognized four individuals for their contributions to improving the community. The first cohort of award recipients were awarded a Medal of Excellence and Good Citizenship at a special ceremony on June 23.

The Medal of Excellence and Good Citizenship is available to residents who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the quality of life in Prince George through volunteerism, philanthropy, professional contributions, acts of courage and generosity, or excellence in a particular field and shown leadership that has inspired others and created a lasting, positive change.

Nominees were reviewed earlier this year by a five-member adjudication committee led by the Prince George Community Foundation. A total of 20 nomination packages were received. Each nomination was independently scored by committee members based on the award criteria, followed by a committee review of the results to determine the three recipients. The final nominees were referred to Council for consideration and final approval in a closed meeting. Recipients were awarded a medal and matching lapel pin, as well as a $1,000 donation per recipient to the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society which includes a commemorative plaque for the garden.
