The Prince George RCMP was out conducting a speed watch campaign during the noon hour on April 26…

For this campaign RCMP chose Ospika Blvd and during the 2 hour event, officers pulled over 20 drivers for speeding and one for excessive speed.

“In the two hours that police officers were conducting their speed watch, they issued 21 violation tickets to drivers going 25 km/h or more over the posted speed limit of 50 km/h. Our message to drivers is that the roadway is a shared space and we need to make sure we’re keeping the safety of everyone in mind. One way to do this is to make sure you’re staying within the posted speed limit,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police say that one of the drivers pulled over was caught travelling 109 km/h. The speed limit on Ospika Blvd is 50 km/h. That driver had their vehicle impounded for a week and was slapped with a $368 fine.
