Police in Dawson Creek are sending out a reminder to motorists to slow down on highways following traffic stops over the weekend…

BC Highway Patrol was out along the Highway 97 on April 2 and had stopped a vehicle travelling 69 km/h over the posted speed limit, which is 100 km/h.

The motorist, a new driver, was immediately pulled over and handed a $483 fine. He also faced 3 demerit points and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Two other motorists were caught speeding along the same stretch. Police did not state if those motorists faced the same consequences as the new driver did.

“The posted speed limits serve as a reminder to the public to slow down and that exceeding these posted speed limits puts themselves and others at risk, says BC Highway Patrol Officer Constable Matthew MacCallum.”
