QUESNEL, BC: A senior is in hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on Highway 97 south of Kersley last Friday (Dec 30)…

Police say the initial incident was of an F-350 pickup which had gone off the road and into the ditch. Two of the occupants of the vehicle received minor injuries. The drivers of two other vehicles stopped and were attempting to pull the F-350 out of the ditch with their vehicles while the 74 year old senior, who lived near-by, attended and was attempting to assist with traffic control.

Due to the road conditions and darkness the senior was struck by a vehicle that was unable to stop in time due to limited visibility and icy road conditions. The senior was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

“This is an unfortunate event where a man was seriously injured while performing an act of kindness and assisting someone else who needed help,” says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

No further details or updates on the senior’s condition have been released.
