DAWSON CREEK, BC: Police in Dawson Creek are looking for witnesses after a shooting incident over the weekend that left one man dead…

Police say on October 9 (Saturday evening) around 6 pm, officers were called to an alleged collision scene on Highway 97 near Arras Road, west of the city.

Officers attended and located one man in a vehicle suffering from injuries inconsistent with a motor vehicle collision. The man soon after succumbed to his injuries.

The North District RCMP has since taken over the investigation and is working closely with the Dawson Creek RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.

Motorists and area residents can expect to see RCMP officers in the area for the next several days while the investigation continues.

The North District Major Crime Unit is asking any witnesses or anyone who was near the intersection of Highway 97 and Arras Road, heading towards Dawson Creek between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM with dash-camera video, to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
