UPDATE: Two individuals were injured during this and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. Both people are expected to survive their injuries.

“While police believe this to be a targeted shooting one innocent bystander was injured,” said S/Sgt Darren Dodge, Acting OIC Williams Lake RCMP.

While multiple support units, including North District Major Crime Unit, were called to assist, Williams Lake General Investigation Section has conduct of the file. The investigation is a priority and is ongoing.

WILLIAMS LAKE, BC: One person has been arrested while two others have been sent to Williams Lake Hospital for treatment after being shot at the Williams Lake stampede Sunday afternoon…

Police say at 3:37 pm, officers were called to a report of a shooting on the stampede grounds located on the 800 block of Mackenzie Avenue South.

Preliminary investigation reveals that this incident was targeted and no further risk remains to the public. The investigation is in its infancy and no further information is available at this time.
