SunVilla 10 foot Solar LED Market Umbrella recalled due to fire hazard…

This recall involves SunVilla 10 foot Solar LED Market Umbrella sold at Costco warehouses in Canada and the United States. The patio umbrellas were sold in various colours and have LED lights on the inside arms of the umbrella. The umbrellas have a solar panel with a black cover on the back of the solar panel puck. The solar panel cover is marked with “YEEZE” or “YEEZE 1” near the top of the cover. The affected product brand name is “SunVilla Corporation”.

Issue

The lithium-ion batteries may overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.

As of June 9 2022, the company has received 1 report of a battery overheating and umbrella catching fire in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 5 reports of batteries overheating with 4 reports of umbrellas catching on fire and 1 report of a smoke inhalation injury.

FY21 was sold in 2021 and FY22 was sold in 2022. If you purchased one of the umbrellas and are not sure if its on a recall list, check further below to contact SunVilla.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled umbrella, and:

• Remove the Solar Panel from the top of the umbrella

• Store the panel out of the sun and away from combustible material

• Do not charge the panel with the AC adapter

Consumers may return the umbrella and solar panel puck to any Costco Warehouse for a full refund. Consumers that are unable to return the umbrella and puck to a Costco Warehouse can contact SunVilla.
