BC Wildfire Service monitoring a fire in the Fort Nelson zone…

FORT NELSON, BC: The BC Wildfire Service is monitoring a fire (G90313) in the Dall Lake area of the Fort Nelson Fire Zone. The fire was discovered Friday, June 17, 2022, is approximately 700 hectares in size and is currently classified as “Out of Control”.

BC Wildfire Service patrols identified outfitter cabins in the vicinity and have established structure protection measures on these buildings. No other buildings or values have been identified as “at risk” at this time.

The BC Wildfire Service selects attack methods based on the size and intensity of a wildfire. All attack methods prioritize the protection of values and the safety of firefighters. As a monitored fire, the BC Wildfire Service is observing and analyzing the fire but is not taking immediate suppression action.

Per the Fire Management Plan, this incident will be allowed to burn to achieve ecological and/or resource management objectives due to its remote location. Fire is a natural, normal process in many ecosystems and is necessary to maintain a healthy forest as well as the diversity of plant and animal life.

Smoke may be locally visible as wind conditions change; however, forecasted weather in the coming week is likely to help mitigate spread and intensity.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation, please call 1-800-663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone.
