PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Police are currently investigating two separate incidents of gunshots that occurred less than 12 hours apart in the city…

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the Prince George RCMP received a report of gunshots heard on the 2100 block of Upland Street.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that shots were fired. At this time, no victims have been located. Police reviewed video surveillance, which showed a small red car leaving the area at the time of the shots.

A vehicle matching its description was located a short distance away by police and the occupants of the vehicle, who are known to police, were arrested for careless use of a firearm. Police towed the vehicle to collect further evidence and released the suspects pending results of the investigation.

The second report of gunshots occurred just before 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Police attended a commercial dwelling unit on the 1600 block of Queensway and located one victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Emergency Health Services transported the man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police remained on scene while they collected further evidence from the area. The victim is known to police.

“These investigations are both in the preliminary stages but currently do not seem related. These appear to be targeted events and we do not believe there to be any further risk to the public,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
