Enhancements Completed at Freeman Park…
PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Ball fans, athletes, and coaches rejoice! A popular local fastball park is receiving a retrofit to update bathroom facilities and replace dilapidated fencing.
All three diamonds in Freeman Park have received new outfield fencing totalling about 600m. In addition, the washroom facilities and the trail in between the fields in the park have recently been upgraded to enhance accessibility.

The Freeman Park fields are about 40 years old, and the recent upgrades are addressing some of the original infrastructure at the park. The work was identified in the City’s 2018 Ball Diamond and Sport Field Strategy, which flagged a number of priorities at local fields and diamonds. About $200,000 is being invested into the fields at Freeman and Carrie Jane Gray Park this year, and about two-thirds of the amount is being provided by the Government of Canada through its Canada Community-Building Fund.
Freeman Park is home base for about 250 participants and coaches in minor girls and senior women’s fastball. Freeman Park has also hosted regional, provincial, and national tournaments.
