Police seek Wanted Man after shooting victim shows up at local hospital…

MACKENZIE, BC: The Mackenzie RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating a Wanted man following a shooting at a home last week…

Police say on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:50 PM, officers were notified that a male victim had attended the hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigation determined the incident took place at a private residence in Mackenzie and is believed to be a targeted attack, as both the suspect and victim were known to each other.

The BC Prosecution service has approved the following charges against 40-year-old Mackenzie resident, Emil Laverne SPELMAN:

• Aggravated Assault Sec. 268(2) of the Criminal Code
• Assault with Weapon Sec. 267(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited Sec. 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.
• Discharge a Firearm with Intent Sec. 244(1) Criminal Code.
