The incident began at 2:30 p.m. when RCMP received multiple 911 calls from concerned motorists about an erratic driver. Witnesses stated the vehicle was a green Dodge Dakota and several people noted it appeared to be a female driver.

The first witness saw the vehicle on Queensway and followed it onto 1st Avenue where he stated to dispatchers that it almost hit several vehicles before turning onto Carney Street. A second witness then called 911 to report she was behind the vehicle on Carney Street and observed it swerving all over the road with irregular speeds.

The vehicle continued on making its way to Range Road where it collided with a parked vehicle. A witness contacted police to state he saw the collision and obtained photos. A fourth witness called 911 to report she was driving on Range Road when the vehicle entered the oncoming lane and she had to swerve to avoid a collision. The vehicle continued on to Highway 16 West near Cowart Road where it cut off a chip truck.

Police continued their patrols and located the vehicle again on Domano Boulevard near Malaspina Drive. Members of the Prince George Municipal Traffic Services Unit and Frontline members attempted to pull over the vehicle but it failed to stop. Police were successful in stopping the truck by using their vehicles to block it in on Highway 16 near Highway 97.

Police arrested the driver, a 28-year-old resident of Prince George, for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and a Drug Recognition Expert from North District’s Impaired Driving Unit completed an evaluation for possible drug impairment. Police also learned the driver had stolen the vehicle earlier that day. Investigators later released the driver from custody with a future court date. The driver is known to police.
