Man caught with stolen mail…
PRINCE GEORGE, BC: One man was arrested last week after being caught with stolen mail…
Police say on March 16, 2021 at 2:00 AM, while investigating another matter on Central Street West, officers located and arrested an individual suspected of stealing mail.
Officers also observed a male standing in the middle of the road and stopped to speak with this person. Police recognized the male from previous dealings and detained him in relation to their current investigation. As part of the investigation and for their own safety, police then asked the suspect to show them what was in his pockets.
“Police discovered the suspect had several pieces of mail and one piece of identification on him that were not in his name,” states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP. “The mail belongs to several different people who reside in an apartment building on Union Street that recently reported a mail theft. The identification belongs to a Prince George resident who reported their wallet stolen in April.”
Police arrested the suspect and brought him to the Prince George Detachment, where they confirmed his identity as 27-year-old Jordan LALONDE. LALONDE stayed at the detachment until he could attend court the next morning.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges of Possession of stolen property under $5000 and Fail to comply with probation order against LALONDE. He is back in the community on a release order until his court appearance next month.
