Police say just after 9:00 PM on March 11, 2021, a frontline member of the Prince George RCMP noticed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen less than three hours prior.

The owner of the vehicle called RCMP at approximately 6:40 PM to report a stolen vehicle. The owner stated they left the vehicle running with the keys in the car and entered their residence just long enough to get a jacket. In the moment that they were gone, someone entered the running vehicle and stole it.

A few hours later, while on patrol in the VLA area, a police officer observed the Pathfinder as it pulled out of a driveway. The member followed the stolen vehicle until it stopped at a business on the 1700 block of Strathcona Avenue. The police officer activated his police lights, exited his vehicle, advised the driver and passenger that they were under arrest for possession of stolen property.

Police identified the driver as 40 year-old Gordon LALIBERTE and the passenger as 37 year-old Virginia DENNING. Police are familiar with both suspects.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved charges of Possession of stolen property against bjth suspects. The BC Prosecution Service also approved one charge of Prohibited driving against LALIBERTE.

The pair are back in the community on a release order until their next court appearance at the end of March.
