On Monday April 27, 2020 at 7:52 PM, Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of a missing senior with severe dementia. The senior had reportedly driven off in a vehicle earlier and had not returned. Dawson Creek RCMP conducted extensive patrols throughout the night.
At 10:30 AM the same day, the vehicle was located, abandoned, in the rural Farmington area. Over the next 24hrs an extensive search was conducted in the back country area with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, North Peace Search and Rescue and South Peace Search and Rescue.
At approximately 10:42 AM on Wednesday April 29, 2020 the senior was located by Search and Rescue teams. At the time he was found he had fallen and become wedged under a log and could not move. The man was transported out of the bush area to a waiting ambulance and is currently recovering in hospital. with minimum injuries.
