PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Just after 6:00 AM on Friday March 13, 2020, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a break & enter to the mausoleum at the Prince George Cemetery on Memorial Park Lane in Prince George. This is the second report this week…
Officers attended the scene within minutes but the suspect fled approximately 2 minutes after breaking in.
Police say a lone male suspect wearing a mask smashed a window to gain entry and then broke into a few niches to steal personal belongings. Video surveillance shows the suspect was in the premises for less than two minutes before fleeing.
The suspect is described as:
· Wearing a black hoody, black pants, runners and a mask
A Police Dog Service team conducted a track of the suspect without success.
“This is a disgusting and disrespectful act for personal gain” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. “All efforts will be made to identify and charge the person responsible.”
Police now believe that there were three break-ins to this property in the last week. The first occurred March 6 or March 7, during the overnight, where an external window was broken, but no entry gained. The second occurred early Monday morning where a suspect entered the building, and the third occurred March 13, during the early morning, where the suspect entered the building. In all three incidents, niches were broken into and personal items, predominantly jewelry, was stolen.
The investigations are continuing and police are looking for the public’s help.
