FORT ST. JOHN, BC: A man has been arrested after barricading himself in a home Friday afternoon following an assault…
Police say at around 5:30 PM, officers responded to an assault which occurred in a home on 87th Ave. The report stated the man had barricaded himself in the basement of the home where he had access to firearms.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers were able to successfully remove the assault victim and family members from the top floor of the residence. Additional officers were called in and an area around the home was cordoned off for safety.
Hours later, contact was made with the man who was arrested without incident and transported to the Detachment.
The investigation continues.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome in this case,” said Inspector Anthony Hanson. “Considering the circumstances, the teamwork and patience exhibited by all of our officers helped bring this to a safe end for everyone involved.”
