BURNS LAKE, BC: A male suspect has been arrested in connection to an Armed Robbery/Assault in Houston on August 6, 2018…

Police say on August 16, RCMP received a report of a suspicious male near Paddy Isaac Road, west of Burns Lake. The caller believed it was the suspect wanted in connection to the assault and robbery in Houston.

Officers conducted an extensive search and had received several calls of possible sightings of the suspect, yet the suspect was not located.

On Saturday August 18, 2018, an off duty RCMP officer was at Beaver Point Resort when he was approached by an unknown male. The officer immediately recognized the suspect, however the suspect was unaware that he was speaking with a police officer.

The suspect observed a police car nearby and fled the scene in the vehicle he drove in with, which had been stolen earlier.

Fire Road Blocks that had been set up were advised and perimeters were set up with a spike belt available to be deployed. The vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed toward a checkpoint and the spike belt was deployed, deflating two tires. The suspect fled the scene and the vehicle was later found abandoned. The suspect was located in the area and arrested.

The suspect, a 37 year-old man is presently in custody pending a court appearance. The investigation is ongoing.
