A violent and well-known suspect to the Quesnel RCMP has been arrested following a series of events on Monday afternoon…
Police say the incident began at around 4:45 pm, when officers got word of a stolen vehicle. Approximately 45 minutes later, at 5:30 pm, officers located the vehicle in the Walmart parking lot with the driver still inside. Officers attempted to apprehend the driver but the suspect instead drove his vehicle forward, striking a parked RCMP vehicle. The driver then fled at a high rate of speed through the parking lot.
Later on, a report came in that a vehicle had gone off-road in Kersley, a community south of Quesnel along Highway 97. Police arrived on scene but the driver was not inside the vehicle and had fled into the Kersley area.
RCMP Police Dog Services from Prince George attended the scene, and after a lengthy track, the male suspect was found barricaded in a shed. The 30 year-old caused a struggle but was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
The suspect is well known to police. He was recently released on conditions for a similar offence that required electronic monitoring but was found to be breaching his conditions as he removed his ankle monitor shortly after being release,
says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.
