PRINCE GEORGE

Mounties in Prince George are praising the quick thinking of two youth last week, as their actions have proved pivotal in the progress of an investigation into an indecent act.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, just before 2:00 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of an incident that involved two youth and a third party. The youth, who were unharmed but shaken up, immediately called 911 to report the incident; the youth then provided police officers with a very detailed description of the suspect and his last known direction of travel. With these details, combined with the quick call to 911, police officers located a suspect just a short distance from where the incident occurred, where he was placed under arrest.
“Investigators are highlighting this incident as it is a great example of how quick, detailed reporting can influence the direction of a police investigation. While we understand there will be instances when immediate reporting is not an option for victims or witnesses, the closer to an event occurring that it is reported, can impact the chances of a suspect being caught or of preserving evidence,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
The suspect in this matter was later released on an undertaking with conditions. The victims are working closely with the Prince George RCMP Victim Services Unit.
