November 4 UPDATE: An additional 5 cm mixed with rain throughout the day today. Temperatures will drop tonight leaving road surfaces very slippery so drive carefully. As of 8:15 AM.

UPDATE 2: Snow accumulation for Prince George is now between 5 to 10 cm for the city and 5 to 15 cm for rural areas. Snow could change to rain later on today and Friday. As of 8 am, November 3, 2022.

UPDATE: A Snowfall Warning is now in effect for the Prince George, Quesnel, Mackenzie and Pine Pass regions for Thursday. 15 to 20 cm is now expected. As November 2, 2022 at 4 pm.

Environment Canada has issued a a Special Weather Statement as up to 20 cm of snow could fall within the Prince George and Pine Pass regions beginning later Thursday morning…

Strong gusty winds are also forecast and could cause blizzard like conditions in the Pine Pass region.

Poor visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow Thursday and Thursday night.

Where: Communities along Hwy 97 from Clinton to Pine Pass and surrounding areas; communities near the western slopes of the Cariboo Mountains; communities along Hwy 16 from McGregor to Fraser Lake; Mackenzie; and Fort St. James

Hazard: Poor visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Total snowfall accumulation: 10 to 20 cm.

Wind: Southeast 30 km/h gusting to 60.

Remarks: A frontal system associated with an atmospheric river will produce heavy snowfall rates across the central interior beginning Thursday afternoon. Strong south to southeast winds of 30 km/h gusting to 60 will accompany the snow. Travellers are advised to check their travel plans and be prepared for poor visibility in heavy snow and/or blowing snow.

The snow will end Thursday overnight or early Friday morning as rising freezing levels cause precipitation to transition to rain.
