Update… RCMP seeking witnesses to Hit and Run incident…
NOTE* In an updated release on July 27, RCMP determined the vehicle in question was not a Bandstra truck. We have removed that identification from the story. Police have located another vehicle thanks to witnesses who provided more info into the incident.

Officers received a report shortly before 10:00 PM on July 13 about a 13-year-old youth that was struck by a semi-trailer truck near the intersection of Highway 97 and 22nd Avenue. The suspect vehicle, a burgundy transport truck, was headed southbound on Highway 97 at the time of the incident.
The driver returned to the area a short time later and was arrested by police for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. The youth was transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance Services with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are asking that any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage that was in the area at the time, please call the non-emergency number at 250-561-3300 to speak with police.
The driver was released without process pending the results of the full investigation. He is cooperating with police.
