⚠️ Headed to Yukon and Alaska? Alaska Highway is OPEN to single lane alternating with a pilot car…

Below is an image of what a beaver dam that had collapsed sending a huge amount of water headed straight to the Alaska Highway washing a large section of road on July 1st, 2022.

As of July 6, 2022, the single lane detour remains in place. The detour could be in place for the next few months so be prepared to expect lengthy delays if you plan to use the Alaska Highway to head to the Yukon or Alaska.

The alternative is diverting through Prince George using Hwy 16 West to Terrace and then use Hwy 37. Drive to the road conditions on Hwy 37.

As of July 4: UPDATE: Single lane alternating traffic. Follow pilot car and obey signs. Detour available at KM 900 for southbound traffic (leaving from Watson Lake), and at KM 897 for northbound traffic (from Fort Nelson). As of 2:30 pm PST. Expect delays.

Just a reminder that the Alaska Highway is currently CLOSED approximately 377 km northwest of Fort Nelson due to a washout.

The highway will remain closed with the next available update for Sunday July 3 at noon.

An alternative route using Highway 16 West from Prince George to Highway 37 in the Terrace region.
