On October 13, 2021, at approximately 6:15 AM, the Quesnel RCMP responded to suspicious occurrence at an apartment building on Doherty Drive. While searching the building, the police located a man who had suffered serious injuries.
The investigation revealed three men forced entry into the building and assaulted the victim. Two of the three men were identified by police and located and arrested within hours of the assault.
Eric Joseph Heidemann (32 years old) was arrested at a residence on West Fraser Road after a brief foot pursuit. Police are currently processing crime scenes related to the event, and one firearm has been located during this investigation.
The second suspect, Jordan Brent Cooper (31 years old), was also arrested at a residence on West Fraser Road without incident.
“The two men who were arrested are well known to the police and this incident is believed to be a targeted attack”, said Sgt. Richard Weseen of the Quesnel RCMP. Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public and the search for the third suspect is underway.
Heidemann and Cooper have been jointly charged with break and enter and commit aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, and disguise with intent. Heidemann’s next court appearance on October 15, 2021 and Cooper will appear on October 19, 2021.
