Please be advised that the City of Prince George has closed sections of Cottonwood Island Nature Park due to rising river levels. Barricades and signs have been installed on the bridges leading into the island in the park, near the rail bridge, and on the trail running from the canoe launch to the Yellowhead Bridge.
Sections of park trail began to experience some flooding yesterday, but the BC River Forecast Centre forecasts river levels will recede over the next few days. Staff will continue to monitor river levels and will reopen closed sections of the park when it is safe to do so.
The City thanks park visitors for their patience and understanding and encourages residents to use caution whenever walking near the rivers, particularly during periods of increased water levels.
