PRINCE GEORGE, BC: One man suffered a gunshot wound following a shooting incident in Prince George last night…

Police say just before 8:00 PM, officers received a 911 call reporting multiple shots were fired on Wiggins Place, off Moss Avenue in Prince George.

Officers immediately attended and located multiple spent bullet casings on the road. At the time, no one was found or reported injured. Neighbourhood inquiries were made and several other residents reported hearing shots being fired. Witnesses also say two dark vehicles were observed fleeing the area following the shooting.

Approximately 15 minutes later, at 8:15 PM, officers were notified a 28 year-old man attended the hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound. He is expected to recover from a non-life threatening injury.

At about the same time, officers received a report of a vehicle fire on Moyie Street, just a few blocks from the scene of the shooting. Police believe the vehicle was deliberately set on fire and is associated to the shooting incident.

The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Section, Forensic Identification Section and Police Dog Service Section are assisting with the investigation.

Investigators believe this incident was targeted and directly associated to the drug trade and have no reason to believe the general public is at risk.

Police are requesting the public’s help with this investigation. If you have any information, please contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
