At approximately 11:10 p.m. on March 13, 2026, Fort St. John RCMP were called to an incident at the Charlie Lake boat ramp. Police learned that several people had been involved in an altercation, during which one person sustained serious injuries.
The injured individual was transported to hospital by friends but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
The North District Major Crime Unit has been deployed and has assumed conduct of the investigation. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
The area around the boat ramp will be closed for several hours while investigators process the scene and gather evidence.
The investigation is in its early stages, and no further details are being released at this time.
North District Major Crime Unit is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash camera footage or information related to the events at Charlie Lake to contact Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8140.
