PRINCE GEORGE

Thursday, July 24, 2025

On July 19, 2025, around 10:30 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of a man pointing a firearm at a taxi driver.

Police officers flooded the area and swiftly located the man, later identified as 38-year-old Prince George resident Clayton Gus Joseph, on the corner of 4th Ave and Quinn Street.

“Despite the presence of the firearm, Joseph was arrested by attending officers without further incident. Though the firearm was later determined to be an imitation firearm, RCMP are reminding the public that a police response to an imitation firearm will illicit the same response as a real firearm,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer, Prince George RCMP.

A search incidental to his arrest revealed a second, non-imitation firearm and some ammunition.

The following charges have been approved in this matter:

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of an imitation weapon
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

Joseph will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

This file is now before the courts.
