Three people were arrested during the overnight Sunday (Mar 2) following a serious incident outside a night club in Prince George…
Police say just after 3 AM, an officer on patrol in the area of the night club noticed a fight break out between two women. The officer attended the scene and made an attempt to arrest the woman who started the fight but she became uncooperative. The incident then took a volatile turn when the officer was surrounded by a crowd of people who were reaching and grabbing at him while he continued to make an arrest. The officer managed to call for backup and additional officers arrived on scene to help de-escalate the situation.
“This is a reminder to the public that you may not always know what is going on or why a person is under arrest by a police officer, but that you must allow our police officers to safely complete their work. If you think something is going on that requires follow up by the detachment, there are better ways to have this done than interfering with the police officer,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
All three suspects, two from the crowd and the woman that started it all, were released from custody.
The investigation has since been concluded.
