PRINCE GEORGE

Friday, January 3, 2025

The Prince George RCMP is looking for any witnesses to a fire that occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the weigh scales on Highway 97 South. The fire was reported to police around 6:20 a.m., and is currently being investigated as suspicious.

Emergency responders arriving at the location noted two pickup trucks leaving the vicinity but were not able to obtain any license plate information to provide to investigators.

Police officers are also looking into orange spray-paint graffiti on a nearby sea-can that was, according to employees at the location, not there the previous day. The graffiti reads, “good job McCreadie.” Police believe it may be related to several recent impaired driving investigations and that the graffiti and the arson are connected, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Investigators are hoping that someone passing by that section of the highway might have dash camera footage that caught people or vehicles approaching or leaving the area in the time before the fire was reported to police.

If you have information relating to this investigation, please call the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3321 to speak with an investigator.
