A man has died following an incident in the Pine River over the weekend…
Chetwynd RCMP say on September 29, 2024, officers received a report of a missing man after he failed to resurface from the Pine River.
Police immediately responded and upon arrival, located a Search and Rescue member on scene with a small child who was not injured. Officers learned the man was with the child when he tried to save his boat from going down stream. The man jumped into the water to retrieve the boat and was seen going under the surface and did not return.
Fort St. John Search and Rescue were called to assist in the search for the missing man. Sadly, the man was located on shore downstream from the boat launch and was pronounced deceased.
The Chetwynd RCMP thank the Dawson Creek Search & Rescue, Fort St. John Search & Rescue as well as EHS, PDS and Victim Services for their assistance.
BC Coroners Service has taken over the investigation. No more details are to be released.
