A well-known suspect to the Dawson Creek RCMP has been arrested following several incidents in the city on Friday (Sept 20)…
The incident began when an anonymous tip came in from the public that 50 year-old Daniel Querin, a dangerous offender/driver, was driving a pickup truck hauling a trailer near 102nd Ave and 11th Street. Officers located the vehicle not long after the report and attempted to pull the driver over. The suspect did not comply and drove straight into a police cruiser and fled the area.
More reports started to come in to RCMP that the suspect vehicle had driven across the sidewalk and over medians through the parking lot of the Dawson Creek Art Gallery, narrowly missing several people walking in the area. The suspect vehicle then proceeded against traffic through the 8th Street traffic circle, leaving a swath of destruction before crashing into a nearby business yard.
Police met up with the suspect vehicle, and again the suspect attempted to flee the area but did not get far as the vehicle was too badly damaged and stopped working. Officers moved in and made an arrest.
Daniel Querin has been charged with the following:
- assaulting a police officer with a weapon,
- obstructing a police officer,
- driving while disqualified,
- two counts of flight from a police officer,
- failure to stop after accident with a person,
- refusal to comply with a demand and breach of a release order.
This is not the first time Daniel Querin has been involved in this type of behaviour on the streets of Dawson Creek. In August 2022, Querin rammed a police vehicle using a stolen truck while attempting to escape apprehension. He was arrested and found to be in possession of multiple loaded firearms and in breach of several conditions. In another instance in August 2022, Daniel was located driving a stolen truck and once again used it to ram police vehicles.
Querin remains in police custody.
The Dawson Creek RCMP would like the thank the diligent members of the public who alerted police to the whereabouts of Daniel Querin and aided in his apprehension.
