One person has died following a serious crash over the weekend near Smithers…
Police say on Sunday (Sept 15), officers with the BC Highway Patrol were called to a two vehicle crash on Highway 16 west of Raymond Road.
A pickup truck was heading eastbound on Highway 16 when it struck an SUV head-on in the westbound lane at highway speed.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries while the driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased despite life saving efforts by first responders. A passenger in the SUV was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers are continuing their investigation and have not ruled out impairment to be a factor in the crash.
