A 29 year-old man has been arrested following a car-jacking at the Prince George Airport on Saturday afternoon…

Police say on August 24, 2024 at 1 pm, officers responded to a serious incident involving two seniors who were attempting to leave in their vehicle from the PG Airport. A male suspect pushed a senior woman out of the parked car and then attempted to push the senior driver out the drivers side door. The suspect was unsuccessful in that attempt and accelerated away from the scene with the drivers side door still open.

The male suspect then crashed the vehicle not far from the airport, causing the senior male to be ejected from the vehicle, all while the male suspect continued on until the vehicle became immobilized due to the damage sustained in the crash. Officers arrived on scene and immediately located the suspect near the wrecked vehicle. The driver, Tanner Meier, was arrested on scene.

The senior driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the passenger also sustained injuries.

Multiple charges have been approved in this matter including robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, assault, and driving while prohibited. Meier will remain in custody until his next court appearance, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police officers would like to thank all of the witnesses who remained at the scene of the car-jacking to provide their information to investigators. If you have information relating to this investigation and have not yet spoken to the police, please call the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 to speak with a police officer.

The investigation remains ongoing.
