Two men have been arrested following a stolen vehicle incident in Dawson Creek…

Police say on June 1, 2024, officers were advised of a suspicious vehicle parked near 17th Street and 116th Ave. Two people were inside the vehicle before police arrival. The driver fled the scene on foot while the passenger, who is known to police, was taken into custody when officers arrived. The passenger was identified as 29 year-old Cole Hansen. Police add the vehicle was stolen out of Grande Prairie earlier that day.

Officers then called in the Police Dog Services team to locate the driver of the truck, who fled into nearby forest. The male suspect was located in a wooded area and taken into custody without incident. He has been identified as 35 year-old Jacob Dennis.

  • Possession of Stolen Identification

Dennis has been charged with the following…

  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Possession of a Stolen Bank Card
  • Operating a Vehicle while Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm for a Dangerous Purpose.

Hansen has a lengthy criminal record for offences such as theft, failing to comply with release orders, trafficking scheduled substances, robbery etc. Dennis also has a lengthy criminal record for offences such as break and enter, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with release orders, firearm offences, fraud, etc.

Police applied to keep both men in custody but Hansen was released back into the community.

The Dawson Creek RCMP would like to thank Police Dog Services, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System operator and the members of the public who assisted with the investigation.
