The City of Prince George is gearing up for another exciting Canada Day celebration at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We are looking forward to hosting our neighbours at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park again this year,” said community coordinator, Doug Hofstede. “Canada Day in the Park is a long-standing tradition in Prince George that celebrates the rich multiculturalism in our community. We’re excited to offer exciting entertainment, delicious food options from around the world, and fun activities for the whole family. New this year is ‘challenge a champion’ with the Prince George Chess Club!”
Opening ceremonies at the bandshell start at noon with an opening from Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Elder Edith Frederick and a cake cutting to recognize Canada’s 157th anniversary at 12:30 p.m. The marketplace, food pavilion, and kids zone open at 11 a.m. Despite recent rainfall, the City is not hosting fireworks this year due to the current BC Wildfire burning restrictions.
The City thanks the following sponsors for helping to make Canada Day in the Park possible:
