The Prince George RCMP is appealing to the public for any witnesses to a pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred on April 4, 2024…

Witnesses state a mother with her two children in a stroller was using the marked crosswalk at Fifth Avenue and Carney Street around 2:15 p.m. They were crossing from the corner closest to the gas station when a red, lifted truck, believed to be a Dodge pickup, that was in the north bound turning lane of Carney Street, collided with the stroller during its turn to proceed west bound on Fifth Avenue.
βThankfully no one was injured in this incident. However, police officers would still like to speak with the driver of the vehicle as they failed to remain at the scene of accident. Investigators are asking that anyone who was in the area and has a dash camera please check their footage for the time in question in the chance they caught footage of the truck,β states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Police officers are also reminding drivers that even on a green light for vehicle traffic, pedestrians still maintain the right of way. It is very important drivers check all areas of a crosswalk for pedestrians before proceeding through.
