The RCMP is sending out a reminder message to stay off the local water ways after a tragic accident this past weekend north of Williams Lake…
Police say at 5:19 pm on Saturday (March 23), officers responded to a call after a UTV broke through the ice on Tyee Lake, approximately 35 km northeast of Williams Lake. A young child was on the UTV and sadly the child did not survive the incident.
RCMP say the ice may look safe but in reality that ice is not safe for anyone, including pets, to be on it during this time of year.
The BC Coroner’s Service has taken over the investigation and no further details are available.
