UPDATE – That suns warmth really came out today! We’ve reached 17 at YXS! More nice weather Sunday!!
—
The upcoming forecast is looking pretty decent with warm spring temperatures continuing throughout the weekend…
In the Prince George region, we could feel temps around 15 degrees by the time Sunday comes around. Will that break a record? Maybe Sunday’s forecast, with the record to beat of 13.3 degrees back in 1941. (Those stats can be found at the bottom of the story)
Environment Canada is predicting a high of 15 on Saturday/Sunday under mainly sunny skies. The Weather Network is saying 17 for Saturday and 19 for Sunday under mainly sunny skies. Weather.com in America, however, is suggesting that the Prince George Airport weather gauge will sit around 13 degrees on Saturday and 15 for Sunday, both days under fog/partly cloudy skies. The American model usually prevails with our chaotic weather.
Whatever one you choose to go with it could be a good time to begin cleaning the backyard, front yard (get rid of those Christmas decos), driveway, get that garden cleaned out but not too readily available, and if you have a dog… poop dooty! π© Yuck. Don’t waste hose water though, the rivers still remain low because the snowpacks have yet to melt! Remember that Prince George has year round water restrictions. No watering past 12 pm until 5 pm, and if you’re in Western Acres, no watering between 8 am and 5 pm.
It may also be a great weekend to hang out some clothes to dry, dust off those patio chairs and listen to the birds.. if you have that option, because, well, this March weather will soon go back to normal mid next week. So don’t set up that BBQ, or bring out the patio’s full summer supplies just yet because the cold always sneaks back in there to ruin the thoughts of early summer weather.
One more thing… Please stay off the river ice on both the Nechako and the Fraser, it is not safe to do so any longer.

Weather Records to beat for March…
- March 15, 1926 it was 19.4 degrees (today and we will not beat this)
- March 16, 1947 it was 13.3 degrees
- March 17, 1941 it was 13.3 degrees
- March 18, 1997 it was 13.4 degrees
- March 19, 1928 it was 17.8 degrees
- March 20, 1915 it was 18.9 degrees
- March 21, 1939 it was 16.7 degrees
- March 22, 1939 it was 17.2 degrees
- March 23, 1979 it was 16.0 degrees
- March 24, 1999 it was 13.0 degrees
- March 25, 1960 it was 15.0 degrees
- March 26, 1941 it was 16.7 degrees
- March 27, 1941 it was 18.3 degrees
- March 28, 1930 it was 20.0 degrees
PJXM goes back and checks the weather records because the mainstream media narrative around record breaking temps is atrocious. Climate change is real but it doesn’t have to be drastically narrated to become feared of.
