A multi-day project undertaken by the Prince George RCMPβs Downtown Safety Unit and Problem Oriented Policing Team yielded numerous weapons, drugs and evidence of drug trafficking.
The project targeted a B.C. Housing complex on the 600-block of Dominion Street, where multiple rooms were identified in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant. Once inside the rooms, investigators located and seized large quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine; over $1000 in cash; drug trafficking paraphernalia and multiple weapons. In total, three people were arrested.
βThis project targeted several units at the supportive housing complex in response to complaints from the public. We know from experience that drug trafficking regularly elicits higher levels of violence around those who chose to engage in the activity. By disrupting the illicit drug trade in that area, we are helping to keep those who live and work in the neighbourhood safe,β states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Those arrested were later released pending the full results of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
